KAROLINA SZYMANOWSKA

(b. 1982, Wrocław, Poland)
She is an artist working with sculpture and installation, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. Since 2010, she has been teaching in the Department of Sculpture and Spatial Activities at Wrocław’s Academy of Art and Design. She is a winner of the 2nd prize at Inspirations – the International Festival of Visual Art in Szczecin and she is also a laureate of the Fresh Zone competition at the Art Boom Festival in Kraków. She has taken part in numerous group and individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad. She has authored several works in public space. She lives and works in Wrocław.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am interested in art rooted in everyday life. I watch people and their surroundings and I try to capture my observations in my works. The choice of technique and means of expression follows from the problem I study. Motion has always been a staple of my artistic practice. As a means of expression, motion keeps up with the notion of transformation, which is a key element in my art.
