ARTIST STATEMENT

For me as a painter, a conscious and leading inspiration is my experience in stage design. Influenced by both the canonical elements of the theater and the technical means of stage design, I have dealt in my work with such issues as the space of the image, the composability of geometric forms, the construction of a painting structure and texture, light and transparency. In my paintings, I dig deep into the matter, penetrate the structure of the canvas, making room for reflection and metaphor. My paintings literally “reach the wall”, engaging light and shadow at the same time.
